For the first time, the combination of the 4-post SPS® VITESSA SL STOP cylinder with the newly developed SPS® RSS (Rejects Sheet Selector) was presented to the user markets. The RSS is working in an interactive way with the sheet monitoring system of the printing machine and collects “misaligned” and consequently unprinted sheets during the volume of an order. With this add-on device, users now benefit even more from the unique SPS® press feature of “continued process of sheet transportation without a single ‘misaligned’ sheet being printed”.

The RSS selector can be placed between printing press and dryer or between dryer and stacker.

The total visitor number exceeded expectations substantially; also the seriousness of interest was far more than anticipated. Clearly, printers are starting to look into their future again and are trying to find ways to improve themselves in terms of efficiency and quality. The 4-post print head lift of the SPS® VITESSA SL was recognized as the ultimate “comfort” press for screen access and “on-the-fly” material flow control.

Company KONINKLIJKE WÖHRMANN, a large Dutch book printer, making part out of the French CPI group, recently installed a new SPS® printing line with SPS® VITESSA XP1 cylinder press, TURBOSTAR UV dryer, and AUTOSTACK. The company’s chief of production, Mr. Jan Boers, said that, after looking at competitive brands, they preferred the SPS® equipment because it stood out both in ease of operation as well as in average production speed. “When you run orders up to 30.000 sheets, running speed really becomes an issue. The SPS® machine was at least 35% faster than its nearest competitor.  Also the competence in guiding us through this new printing process in our house was outstanding.” The equipment was installed early November 2009 - and after a printing course of 1 week, Wöhrmann is using the printing line to its full capacity.

For SPS® TechnoScreen this was one of the first orders being 100% manufactured in the  new production facility in Piła (Poland). Meanwhile, some 12 lines have left the new factory to customers in Germany, Holland, Brazil, Mexico, China, United Kingdom, Taiwan, and the Middle East.

On the symposium, co-organized by ESMA, SPS® will be lecturing on the topic of "Cylinder printing and new drying technologies for membrane switch".

For the very first time, SPS® ScreenPrintingSystems participated in the GRAPH EXPO show in Chicago October 26 through 29th. The GRAPH EXPO is a traditional show for the general printing industry. Among exhibitors you will find the large offset press manufacturers, the manufacturers of digital printing systems and the general print finishing like cutting, binding, laminating and off course methods of added value to the already pré-printed sheet, using the screen printing technology! We showed some sample material that really were eye openers for some of the visitors being unaware of this high quality and versatile technique.

Since this was the first time for SPS® at GRAPH EXPO, our booth was without machinery and we displayed our program only by means of banners and brochures. Nevertheless, some very promising new contacts were made and we will follow up in the next couple of months. Also, existing SPS® customers dropped in for an update on the latest developments. It is always a pleasure to meet with existing customers and learn more about the development of their business. All in all, it was a learning experience and we will most likely be back on GRAPH EXPO in 2009. SPS® joined in with THIEME U.S.A. – dealer of SPS® equipment in North America – on the annual SGIA show, this time held in Atlanta / GA. The combination of THIEME as the leading manufacturer of flat-bed machinery and SPS®, leader in cylinder lines, has underlined that “quality finds quality”.

Many new contacts were made on the show, particularly in the field of offset finishing.

On 24 September 2008, a major event for the Chinese printing industry - 2008 China Printing Manager Annual Conference and 2008 China Top 100 Printing Enterprises Award - was organized in Qingdao, a beautiful seaside city in northern China.

As a partner of the conference and award, SPS® was invited to present the most advanced SPS® screen printing equipment systems to the leading graphic printing companies in China, this way successfully enhancing awareness of screen printing technology as such and brand recognition, especially in the offset industry. SPS®, being a partner for such major event in the printing industry of China, delivered a lecture held by regional sales director Terence Li, addressing the breakthrough and trends in contemporary printing industry to over 300 guests. During the conference, over 40 different samples were displayed, representing the added value that can be achieved by screen print finishing and attracting the expert interest from many participants.

In the evening, during the Top 100 Printing Enterprises Award celebration, SPS® had the honor to present the award to 6 of the winners and gave a toast to all guests together with the organizer, government officers, other event partners and sponsors.
